Postdoctoral position
The Berger Lab at Stanford is appointing! We’re looking for a postdoc with a neuroscience/EEG analysis/strong stats background and a passionate interest in unraveling the links between postoperative delirium (which is the most common complication among older surgical patients), long term cognitive decline and dementia! Our lab uses a wide variety of techniques to understand the underlying brain mechanisms of postoperative delirium among older surgical patients, and to understand how the APOE4 allele alters the brain (and increases Alzheimer’s risk) throughout the lifespan.
We are also interested in understanding the brain mechanisms of increased brain anesthetic sensitivity among older adults (as measured by intraoperative EEG)- this pattern of increased anesthetic brain sensitivity is strongly linked to increased postoperative delirium risk, yet we understand very little about the changes in brain structure/function that underlie individual differences in anesthetic brain sensitivity among older adults (ie age >65).
Required Application Materials:
- Please send a letter describing your interest in this position and your full CV, including the names and contact info (phone and email) for 3-4 references who know you well from a research setting.
- It’s also helpful if you can send PDFs of 2-3 recent articles on which you were first or co-first author.
How to Submit Application Materials:
- Please send your letter of interest, CV and references to Dr Miles Berger at mberger1@stanford.edu and to Ms Alondra Sanchez at salondra@stanford.edu.
